Located at an altitude of 930 m at the foot of the Tokachi-dake mountain range in the Daisetsuzan National Park, this
mountain observatory offers a significant view of the mountains in front of you and from Asahikawa to Furano.
As well as being a base for climbing the Tokachi-dake mountain range, the observatory can be easily visited by car by
anyone and is crowded with visitors who enjoy the seasonal panoramas. In autumn, especially in early October, when the
autumn colors are changing, it can get very crowded, just like during the summer mountain climbing season.
The site has an evacuation shelter in case of a sudden eruption, volcanic displays and a view from the roof.
*Early Jan - late Apr: winter closure / Parking: 50 vehicles (including 3 large buses).
